Transcript Evaluation via SpanTran

An official evaluation (e.g. through SpanTran) of the transcripts, the payment of the fees, and the submission to relevant institutions are included in the ALL AMERICAN package.

For applications to American universities, your school or university transcripts must be converted to the American grading system. The evaluation through SpanTran is suitable for this purpose. This guide explains how you can successfully apply for the transcript evaluation for students from German-speaking countries at SpanTran.

1. What documents do I need?

Make sure you have the following digital documents (in PDF format) ready:

In addition, you will need a credit card for payment.

2. Registration and basic information

The application for the evaluation is done through the SpanTran portal. Follow these steps:

  1. Open the SpanTran online portal.

  2. Create an account or log in with an existing account.

  3. Enter personal data:

    • Enter your contact information.

    • Under "Country of Study," select the country from which your transcripts originate (e.g., Germany, Austria, Switzerland).

3. Select the type of evaluation

  1. Choose the desired evaluation method:

    By default, a "Course Analysis" is required, as this evaluates the individual subjects and calculates the GPA (Grade Point Average).

Do NOT choose the "General Analysis," as this does not contain a GPA calculation, unless your future university explicitly requires a General Analysis.

Note:

If the evaluation is urgently needed, you can select the "Express option" (2 or 5 business days). The faster processing will increase the total cost.

  1. Determine verification options:

    • Students: Select "Verification is not required".

    • Students at university: Choose either "Please perform verification" (costs an additional $60) or arrange the verification yourself. In this case, your university can send the transcripts directly to verification@spantran.com, providing your Case/Reference number that you will receive after payment.

Tip:

Choose "Student will arrange verification" if the transcripts are to be sent directly from your current university to SpanTran. This way, you can save the verification fee.

4. Specify language requirements

On the next page, indicate whether the documents are in English:

  1. Select "Documents are not in English but a certified English translation will be provided with the original language documents" if you upload both German and English versions of the transcripts.

  2. If you only upload German transcripts, select: "Certified English translations will be submitted later".

5. Delivery options (Delivery Report)

  1. Specify the recipient of the completed evaluation:

    • Choose whether the evaluation should be sent directly to the university in the USA.

    • Clarify in advance with your future university who should receive the completed evaluation.

    • If you leave the field blank, you will only receive the evaluation by email.

  2. Copy options:

    • Select "No hard copies" if no printed copies are needed.

    • If the university explicitly requires a physical copy, you can select "Hard Copy" here. However, please note that shipping will incur additional costs.

6. Upload documents

Now you can upload your transcripts in PDF format directly from your computer:

  1. Upload German and English transcripts individually or in a bundle.

    • It speeds up the evaluation process if the files are clearly named, e.g., "9th grade German" and "9th grade English".

    • You can either upload each transcript individually or compile all files into one document.

  2. Review the order summary:

    • Especially check the email address, so that the completed evaluation can be delivered to you without delay.

7. Payment and completion

  1. Select the payment method:

    Choose "Credit Card" as the payment method. Enter the payment details and select "Outside US" as the country if you live outside the USA.

  2. Complete the payment:

    Click "Proceed to Payment" and confirm the payment.

  3. Receive confirmation:

    You will receive a confirmation email with your Case/Reference number.

Depending on your service package, we cover the payment of the fee. Please check the corresponding information in your profile.

After submission: What happens next?

Once the evaluation is complete, you and the university (if applicable) will receive the final assessment by email.

Important note:

Carefully check all information, especially the email address and the recipient, to avoid delays.
