If you have booked the ALL AMERICAN and ELITE package, we will cover the application fees and complete the application process together with you.
The Online Application is the application process that many American universities offer for international students. Through an online portal, you fill out your application and upload the necessary documents. Each university has its own application portal and specific requirements, so there is no uniform instruction. However, there are basic steps that will help you successfully navigate the process.
The direct application through a university's online portal is, in many cases, the fastest and easiest way to enroll at an American college. This process allows you to:
Communicate directly with the university: You will have access to your own application portal, where you can upload all relevant documents and check the current status of your application.
Fulfill individual application requirements: Each university has its own application forms and specific questions that you can only answer through the respective portal.
Receive personal support: In the portal, you can ask the university's admissions team questions at any time and stay informed about the status of your application.
The first step is to create a user account in the university's application portal. This is necessary so that you can access your data and the status of your application throughout the entire application process.
Steps to create the account:
Go to the university's website: You will receive the link to the online application either from us or find it on the website of the respective university.
Select the right application type: Make sure to choose the appropriate category:
Freshman/Incoming Freshman: If you are applying for your first university degree.
Transfer Student: If you are already studying at another university and want to continue your studies.
Graduate Student: If you already have a bachelor's degree and are planning a master's program.
Create an account: Enter your Smarthlete email address and create a secure password that you will use for the rest of the application process.
Important note:
Use our designated recruiting email address for registration so that we can support you and follow the entire process.
Confirm your email address: Check your inbox, confirm the registration email, and log in to the application portal.
Note on name spelling:
If your name contains umlauts, replace them accordingly:
Γ€ β ae, ΓΆ β oe, ΓΌ β ue, and Γ β ss.
After creating the account, you can start filling out the application. Here are the most important information and details that are typically requested:
Name, date of birth, address, phone number: Enter your current contact information. If your phone number does not fit the provided format, adapt it to the American format, even if it is not correct.
Citizenship: Indicate that you are an international applicant. If you do not have a US passport, you are a "Resident Alien".
Visa information: You will need an F-1 visa to study in the USA. Indicate this accordingly.
Many universities ask about your parents' occupations and education, as well as about siblings. Here you can indicate if anyone from your family has already studied at this university.
School and Degree: Indicate the school you are currently attending or from which you have already graduated. Select "Secondary School" as the school type. If your school is not listed, choose "My school is not listed" and enter the information manually.
GPA (Grade Point Average): If you are asked for your GPA, you can contact us at any time to ensure that the correct calculation is used.
Note:
You may have to indicate the size of your graduating class. Estimate the number of students who are graduating with you.
Many universities place great importance on extracurricular activities. Enter activities you regularly engage in, such as sports, volunteering, or special projects. This information is important to show the universities how versatile and committed you are.
After you have filled out all the required fields, you can review the application in the "Review" section. Carefully check all the information before finally submitting the application. If something is still missing, you will be notified, and you can add the missing information.
Many universities offer the option to upload documents directly in their application portal. These include:
Transcripts: Certified copies of your school transcripts and their English translations (if required).
Passport: A copy of your passport.
Test results: Official results of tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, SAT or ACT.
Make sure to upload all required documents in the correct format (e.g., PDF). Some universities require that transcripts be sent directly from the school - be sure to follow their specific requirements.
Most universities charge a fee for processing the application. This usually needs to be paid by credit card. If your contract with us includes the coverage of the application fee, please let us know in a timely manner so that we can take care of this for you.
Note:
If you have to pay the fee yourself, double-check all the information before payment, as changes are no longer possible after the payment.
After you have submitted your application, you will receive a confirmation email. You can continue to track the status of your application through your account. You will also see if any documents are still missing or if the university has any follow-up questions.
Important tips for a successful application:
Careful preparation: Take enough time to fill out the application completely and without errors.
Upload the right documents: Ensure that all required documents are uploaded completely and correctly.
Maintain close contact with the university: Use your application portal to regularly check the status and respond quickly to any inquiries.
With a well-prepared and timely submitted application, you increase your chances of obtaining a study place at your desired university. If you have any questions or need support, the Smarthlete team is available to you at any time!
